Overview The portable residual chlorine meter is widely used in environmental monitoring, sewage treatment and on-site detection in Colleges and universities, scientific research institutions and other departments. Technical Features 1. High-performance ultra-low power 16-bit single-chip computer, the standby time of the instrument can be longer than 6 months. 2. The main engine case is made of moulded ABS material and designed with IP65. It has good anti-corrosion, waterproof and dust-proof performance. 3. It can store 10 standard curves and 199 measured values (including concentration value, absorbance and transmittance with time label for years, months, days, hours, minutes and seconds). 4. Full English display, can be charged with lithium power supply. 5. Cold light source and narrow-band interference optical system have good optical stability. 6. Data power-off protection function; easy to operate and intuitive.

    Accurate Turbidity Measurement

    1. Basic Principle

    Turbidity is measured by passing a beam of light through a sample of water and detecting the amount of light that is scattered by particles in the water. The more particles in the water, the more light will be scattered, and the higher the turbidity will be.

    There are generally two ways this is done:

    • Nephelometric Method (Scattered Light Measurement): In this method, light is passed through the sample, and the amount of light scattered at a 90-degree angle to the beam is measured. This method is used in most turbidity meters because it is highly sensitive to low levels of turbidity.
    • Attenuation Method (Transmitted Light Measurement): Here, the light is passed through the sample, and the amount of light that passes straight through is measured. This method is more useful for high turbidity levels because it measures how much light is absorbed or blocked.

    2. Components of a Turbidity Meter

    • Light Source: Usually, an LED or a laser is used to provide a consistent light beam.
    • Sample Cell: This holds the liquid sample for analysis.
    • Detector: Positioned at a 90-degree angle (for nephelometric measurements) to capture the scattered light. Sometimes, another detector is placed in line with the light source for transmitted light measurements.
    • Processor: This converts the detected light into turbidity units based on the calibration.

    3. Applications

      • Drinking Water Treatment: To ensure water meets regulatory standards.
      • Wastewater Treatment: To monitor effluent quality.
