Digital RS485 Suspended Solid Sensor ZDYG-2087-01

The Digital RS485 suspended solid sensor is based on the infrared absorption scattered light method and combined with the application of ISO7027 method, can guarantee the continuous and accurate detection of suspended solids and sludge concentration. Based on ISO7027, infrared double scattering light technology will not be affected by chroma for the measurement of suspended solids and sludge concentration value. According to the usage environment, self-cleaning function can be equipped with. It assures the stability of data and reliability of performance; with the built-in self-diagnosis function, it can make sure the accurate data be delivered; besides, the installation and calibration is quite simple.  The product is widely used in sewage plant, water plant, water station, surface water, farming, industry and other fields.

    Accurate suspend solid Measurement

    1. Basic Principle

    Turbidity is measured by passing a beam of light through a sample of water and detecting the amount of light that is scattered by particles in the water. The more particles in the water, the more light will be scattered, and the higher the turbidity will be.

    There are generally two ways this is done:

    • Nephelometric Method (Scattered Light Measurement): In this method, light is passed through the sample, and the amount of light scattered at a 90-degree angle to the beam is measured. This method is used in most turbidity meters because it is highly sensitive to low levels of turbidity.
    • Attenuation Method (Transmitted Light Measurement): Here, the light is passed through the sample, and the amount of light that passes straight through is measured. This method is more useful for high turbidity levels because it measures how much light is absorbed or blocked.

    2. Components of a Turbidity Meter

    • Light Source: Usually, an LED or a laser is used to provide a consistent light beam.
    • Sample Cell: This holds the liquid sample for analysis.
    • Detector: Positioned at a 90-degree angle (for nephelometric measurements) to capture the scattered light. Sometimes, another detector is placed in line with the light source for transmitted light measurements.
    • Processor: This converts the detected light into turbidity units based on the calibration.

    3. Applications

      • Drinking Water Treatment: To ensure water meets regulatory standards.
      • Wastewater Treatment: To monitor effluent quality.
      • Environmental Monitoring: To assess the clarity of lakes, rivers, and streams.
